We will travel to Chicago, home of President Obama and Oprah.    A lunch stop will be made at the Farmers Market near Elkhart, Indiana where you will have a chance to view the colorful Flowering Quilt Gardens popular in this area.  Then we are off to Notre Dame for our walking tour of the famous University campus.    Our arrival into Chicago will be mid evening where you will have a chance to see the sights at Millennium Park and Buckingham Fountain.  “Taste of Chicago” is one of the food festival scheduled to take place in Grant Park during our stay.      Highlights will be along the Magnificent Mile, a grand wide boulevard with exclusive shops, museums, restaurants and ritzy hotels, often compared to 5^th Ave. in NY City.    We will visit one of the tallest buildings in Chicago, the Hancock Tower.   Just a few blocks away is a lovely sandy beach where you can wade in the clear blue Lake Michigan waters.     A boat cruise is included on the scenic Chicago River.  As we cruise the river, the river walks come alive with people, restaurants and entertainment during the summer months.        A stop will be made to enjoy the shops and restaurants at the Navy Pier prior to our departure on Sunday.

Late Thursday night our motor coach will take us into Pittsburgh to board Amtrak for our night ride to Chicago.  We arrive early and check into the Hampton Inn downtown.  You will have three full days in the heart of the Theater District to enjoy on your own.    We are a few blocks from  Millennium Park and Buckingham Fountain.  The Chicago Trolley sightseeing bus departs from this area offering 4 different tours of the city for approximately $35.  The pass is good for two days so you can enjoy different neighborhood tours at your leisure. Stops are made at the Navy Pier, and highlights along the Magnificent Mile a grand wide boulevard with exclusive shops, museums, restaurants and ritzy hotels.  This can be compared to 5^th Ave in NY City.      Horse drawn carriage ride can add to your visit.   You will have a chance to see the city from atop the  Hancock Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Chicago.      At the end of the Magnificent Mile is a lovely sandy beach filled with palm trees and a beach front restaurant.  We all enjoyed getting our feet wet in the clear blue Lake Michigan waters during our tour last year!       We recommend a boat ride to view the river walk, historic buildings on the scenic Chicago River.  Some offer tours through the locks onto Lake Michigan near the Navy Pier.       Between the river walk, Navy Pier, and parks there is so much to see and enjoy during the summer months.   Our train departs early  Sunday evening for our night ride home.  There is a dining car and snack car on the train.  Or you may want to bring along a Chicago Pizza for the ride home.    The seats on the train are spacious, recline and comfortable.    We arrive in Pittsburgh at 5:30A.M  with our coach waiting to return us home.    (This was a popular tour last year !  If you like to explore, join us, we all had a great time!)

City.   We will also stop at the Oprah Store! Our evening dinner and entertainment is included at “Tommy Gun’s Garage”  This is an Audience Interactive “Speakeasy” that offers a musical comedy review with the gangsters, the flappers and YOU!!!    During our stay our visit will also include the Hancock Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Chicago for a fantastic view of the lake and city.    Our boat cruise  will highlight  famous buildings, restaurants and river walk on the scenic Chicago River.    A stop will be made to enjoy the shops and restaurants at the Navy Pier.   Also included is the “Million Dollar Quartet” Show!  It captures the thrills of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis & Carl Perkins and  the greatest rock n roll, gospel, R&B and country standards of the 1950’s.
