Fall is the perfect time to visit this area. The new visitors center greets us with panorama of windows looking out on elk viewing areas. The center features a story theater that will immerse you in the sights, sounds and smells of mixed hardwood forest and the natural world of the elk. Our Wagon ride and BBQ dinner will add to our visit to this quiet village that is home to the largest herd of free roaming Rocky Mountain elk in the Northeast. Bring your cameras. There is a good chance you will see a royal bull, which is one with a total of 12 points.

Our first stop will be the B & W Bat Co for a tour and purchases. They produce over 1500 baseball bats a week for professionals, adults & youth. Lunch is at the Farmers Inn complete with a bakery gift shop, old time bulk food store, and petting zoo. You can see a black bear, cougars and many other animals of the forest. Our drive continues through Cooks Forest into Clarion to check out Main Street and the craft exhibits during the Autumn Festival.

Rt 6 named by National Geographic as one of America’s most scenic drives stretches more than 400 miles across PA’s northern tier. Our stops will include wine tasting at the Flickerwood Wine Cellars & Bell’s meat market (bring your coolers), and the Zippo/Case Visitors Center & Museum in Bradford. You will see a unique exhibit of Zippo lighters and Case cutlery in their gift store. The Kinzua Viaduct once stood as the world’s longest and highest railroad bridge. The new Skywalk will be a highlight of our tour. This is a fabulous fall drive and a chance to see autumn colors of PA.

Western Maryland Scenic Rail Road $82
Our coach will deliver us to Cumberland, Maryland for a round trip ride on Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s “Mountain Thunder” steam train. Upon arrival in Frostburg 1,300 feet up, you will enjoy a “hobo lunch” at the Depot Restaurant, see the train engine turned on the turntable and have some time to browse the gift shops before it’s “all aboard” for the return trip. A little time will be allowed in Cumberland before our return home.

Join us on an early morning ride to Pittsburgh train station for our 5:45A.M. departure. Our scenic ride takes us through the Allegheny Mountains to Cumberland, Maryland by mid morning. You can dine, relax and enjoy this train travel experience. Our motor coach will meet us in Cumberland for our return trip and some touring through the PA mountains into the Bedford area. A meal is included at the historic Jean Bonnet Tavern built in 1762, along with a stop at a Farm with Windmills. This is a great trip you won’t want to miss.
